David is passionate about street children, himself a survivor from living on the streets of Mbarara, Western Uganda, from the time he was 9 years old until he was 18. His parents were imprisoned during the persecution of Christians by Idi Amin’s regime – this left David and his siblings to fend for themselves.
To survive, his fellow street children became ‘family’, making the life bearable. Eventually, David was taken in to the home of a local pastor and treated like family.
It was through this personal experience that David came to understand the needs of children living on the street and to value the centrality of a loving family home as an instrument of healing and transformation
