TOF takes the Fatherhood of God to the communities and individuals we serve. We derive inspiration from the scripture, Psalms 68:5-6, ‘A father to the fatherless … is God in holy habitation. He sets the lonely in families’. Uganda’s continual killings and brutal civil war from 1981-1986 left thousands of children orphaned and hopeless. When the Dangers family arrived in Uganda shortly thereafter, the landscape was filled with darkness. Remnants of the war greeted them at every turn. Human skulls and personal stories of loss served as constant reminders of God’s calling to bring hope to the hopeless and the Fatherhood of God to the fatherless
Sponsorship ProgramsUganda has a population of 45 million, with 48% of her population under the age of 15 making it the ‘youngest’ country in the world. Uganda also has 3 million orphans, half of them orphaned by HIV/AIDS while the rest are victims displaced by civil war, gender-based violence and natural disasters. All these circumstances combine to breed a ‘fatherless generation’ about which we work to provide a solution – the Fatherhood of God.
Care for children-at-risk, mostly orphans, was the beginning of our ministry in 2009. As the moment, we are responsible for 88 children … and growing. Of that number, 23 are resident at the Children’s Home and 65 non-resident living with their guardians in the community
